Can grease (Type I) and condensate (Type II) hoods use the same duct and exhaust fan? |
In most areas of the country you can not combine a dishwasher or steam condensate hood (TypeII) in the same duct and fan system as a grease hood (Type I). The exception is NYC which does allow this. If this is done you need to have a damper on the Type II hoods which would be provided by the hood manufacturer. The best solution for NYC projects where separate ducts and fans are not possible is to use Type 1 hoods over the dishwashers, etc.
