How do I obtain heat rejection information on equipment to size air conditioning loads? |
|
Heat rejection information it commonly provided on equipment cut sheets or manufacturer’s data. There are three ways to obtain this information:
- Guidelines published by ASHRAE which cover most common equipment.
- Specific data provided by manufacturers on request for large specialty equipment producing significant amounts of heat into their environment.
- Standard engineering formulas based on input in BTU or KW for the appliance or device in question.
If you have a gas convection oven with the flue on the left side, does the control panel (5" wide) counts towards the 6" overhang requirement to the edge of the hood. In this case the actual oven cavity would be 6" from the edge of the hood if the oven is flush against the outside edge of the hood? The 5” wide control panel is part of the overhang. The overhand is the measure from the cooking surface or cavity to the edge of the hood. A hood has about 1 1/2" of material on the side. Does the 6" overhang requirement from "edge of the hood" start from the inside or outside of the hood body? The overhang is measured from the outside of the hoods body. The 1 ½” return break is part of the overhang.
